Studiomaster is proud to showcase one of its premier audio installations in Europe, located at the beautiful and historic Alter Kursaal theater in Westerland on the island of Sylt, Germany.
In close collaboration with European distributor EMD Music, the iconic venue—which has hosted islanders’ celebrations and major cultural events for over 125 years—has successfully upgraded its sound system to meet modern touring standards.
The Challenge: Preserving History while Elevating Performance
The Alter Kursaal is a historic brick building requiring a sound reinforcement system that delivers pristine digital audio control without compromising the architectural heritage of the auditorium. To bring new musical energy into the space, the theater’s engineering team needed a solution combining raw power, precise phase alignment, and natural sound imaging.
The System Configuration
The newly installed Studiomaster system delivers a staggering total power of 50,000 Watts RMS, perfectly balanced for every seat in the house:
Main PA: 12x Studiomaster V310 Line Array Tops (flown left and right).
Low-End Support: 4x Studiomaster V310S 18” Subwoofers.
System Amplification & DSP: Driven entirely by a robust rack of 8 Studiomaster units, including 5x QX2-4000, 3x QX2-6000 power amplifiers, and 2x AC48II digital audio processors.

During the final calibration and phase alignment, Timo Weiss, Sound Engineer at Weiss Audio, shared his experience working with the system alongside EMD presenter Cédric Vanstraelen:

Thanks to precise tuning and calibration via the onboard processors, the system successfully controls the frequency response and phase alignment, ensuring a perfect sonic balance across every position in the room.
