As an important comprehensive sports venue in Jilin Province, the Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture Sports Center serves as a core venue for hosting sports events, cultural performances, and large-scale mass activities. With a total construction area of approximately 42,000 square meters and a fixed seating capacity of 25,000, its unique architectural structure and usage requirements impose stringent demands on the sound system.
The sound system of the sports center faces multiple challenges: firstly, as a multi-ethnic area, it needs to meet the special requirements of bilingual broadcasting in Korean and Chinese, and set higher standards for speech clarity; Secondly, the unique architectural structure of the venue is prone to acoustic defects, which require overcoming issues such as echo and uneven sound field; Furthermore, the cold winter climate conditions in Yanbian area pose a challenge to the stability of equipment; In addition, the venue needs to cater to diverse usage scenarios such as sports events and cultural performances, requiring the system to have strong adaptability.
The V310 features a unique three-way crossover design with coaxial arrangement of mid- and high-range drivers, coupled with proprietary V-shaped driver layout technology, effectively enhancing the directional control capability of the mid- and high-frequency range. Through precise acoustic calculations, the system forms a low-curvature wavefront, significantly reducing phase distortion and greatly improving speech intelligibility, making it particularly suitable for multi-language broadcasting environments. The system is equipped with two 10-inch neodymium magnetic bass drivers (75mm voice coil), combined with an 8-inch mid-range driver and two 3-inch B&C compression drivers, achieving a peak sound pressure level of 142dB. The application of neodymium magnetic drivers ensures power while achieving lightweight equipment, with each loudspeaker weighing only 38kg, facilitating installation and maintenance. The coverage angle of 90°×10° has been optimized and designed to achieve precise coverage of the stand area through adjustable array curvature. The system supports modular expansion, allowing flexible configuration adjustments according to different event scales, and can be assembled into a large array of up to 24 loudspeakers.
The successful application of the STUDIOMASTER V310 line array system in the Yanbian Prefecture Sports Center has provided a comprehensive solution for the construction of audio systems in multi-functional sports venues in cold regions. After two full years of operational testing, the system’s performance indicators have exceeded design expectations.
The achievements of this project have been incorporated into the sports building technology standards of Jilin Province, and relevant experiences are being promoted in the Northeast region. In the future, with the integrated application of new technologies such as 5G, the system will continue to be upgraded, providing important support for the construction of smart venues. The successful implementation of the project has not only improved the hardware level of the Yanbian Prefecture Sports Center but also provided a strong guarantee for the development of cultural and sports undertakings in ethnic minority areas, demonstrating a good exemplary effect and promotional value.
The system has now become the preferred venue for large-scale events in Yanbian area, with an annual increase of 45% in the number of important events hosted, and an audience satisfaction rate of 96%. This fully demonstrates the importance of professional audio systems in the construction of modern sports venues, and provides valuable experience for the implementation of similar projects.
