Located in the heart of the Tianhe Sports Center, it boasts a majestic and imposing appearance, exuding extraordinary momentum. With its novel and unique style, it exudes a bold and rugged charm, resembling a galloping steed. Completed in 1987, it served as the central venue for the highly anticipated Sixth National Games of the People’s Republic of China. It hosted the opening and closing ceremonies of the Games, as well as eight rehearsals, four previews, and one final dress rehearsal of the large-scale group calisthenics “Lingyunzhi”. Additionally, it hosted eleven finals in track and field events, as well as the semi-finals and finals of the football competition, totaling twenty-nine events. Thanks to its advanced hardware facilities and the dedication of all staff, the “Sixth National Games” were held in a “grand, enthusiastic, exciting, and successful” manner at this venue, earning high praise from Juan Antonio Samaranch, the President of the International Olympic Committee.

As an important comprehensive sports venue in South China, Guangzhou Tianhe Stadium hosts multiple international-level sports events and large-scale cultural performances every year. The stadium covers an area of 100,000 square meters and can accommodate 60,000 spectators. Its sound reinforcement system faces the following severe challenges: Firstly, the unique open-air structure of the stadium makes sound wave propagation susceptible to environmental interference, requiring the system to overcome the impact of external noise and weather factors. Secondly, the oval-shaped venue structure demands that the audio system must achieve uniform coverage across the entire area of the auditorium to avoid dead zones in the sound field. Furthermore, the system needs to simultaneously meet the high-definition requirements for voice announcements during sports events and the richness requirements for music reproduction during cultural performances. Additionally, Guangzhou’s rainy and humid climate conditions impose stringent requirements on the protective performance of equipment, and the high frequency of use further tests the long-term stability of the system.

The V310 features a groundbreaking three-way crossover structure with coaxial arrangement of MF and tweeter drivers, coupled with a self-developed V-shaped driver layout, effectively improving sound wave directionality. By precisely calculating the spacing and angles between drivers, a low-curvature wavefront is formed, significantly reducing sound interference. This design enhances the high-end sensitivity of the MF driver by approximately 15% and reduces driver distortion to 60% of that of traditional systems. The system is equipped with two 10-inch neodymium magnet bass drivers, each with a large 75mm voice coil, ensuring powerful low frequencies. The MF section utilizes an 8-inch dedicated driver, combined with two 3-inch B&C compression drivers, to achieve a peak SPL of 142dB. Actual measurement data shows that the system’s SPL performance surpasses that of traditional dual 12-inch line-arrays, while reducing weight by approximately 30%. The 90°×10° coverage angle has been scientifically calculated, and by optimizing the suspension angle and array curvature, precise coverage of the stand area is achieved. The system adopts a modular design, supporting the formation of an extended array with up to 24 loudspeakers, perfectly adapting to the needs of events of different scales in stadiums.

The system has been operating stably for over 600 events, withstanding various extreme weather conditions. The project achievements have provided an important reference for the construction of similar venues, and the relevant technical standards have been incorporated into provincial sports building codes. In the future, this system can be extended to other large open-air venues, with significant promotional value.
